This page summarises the main points on what is and what is not covered, and the main conditions for participation in River Rafting. If your holiday plans for River Rafting do not seem to be covered, please contact us by email to explain your requirements.
River Rafting - What is covered:
- Cover for River Rafting as an amateur, to amateur competition level, in safe conditions, with no time limit on participation, is included at no extra charge in all the above insurance quotes.
- Medical & Repatriation costs : the costs due to an accident or illness sustained abroad (outside your Home Country); for being taken to a suitable hospital to receive necessary emergency medical treatment, and for being repatriated if necessary. Please read Section(A) of the policy for full details.
- River Rafting as an Activity : River Rafting is classified as a Medium Risk Activity, for which the terms and conditions are set out in our Schedule of Activities, via sports & activities link above.
- River Rafting with travel insurance : This is a travel insurance policy, not activity top-up insurance, therefore the period of cover as per your certificate of insurance must be for the whole duration of a trip, not just the period of participating in River Rafting,
and normal travel insurance applies when not participating in River Rafting. Insurance must be taken out prior to departure from your home country.
- Higher Excess limit : There is no extra charge for this cover for River Rafting, but, to compensate for there being no extra charge, there is a higher Excess in the event of a claim. The Excess, which is the first part of any claim that you pay, is €300 for Medium Risk Activities, rather than the normal excess for Schedule (A) which is €100.
River Rafting - What is not covered :
- Personal Liability that is you causing injury or damage whilst River Rafting.
- Personal Accident compensation for death or permanent disablement sustained whilst River Rafting, not to be confused with emergency medical costs which are covered.
- River Rafting - Equipment - your own protective gear may not be adequately covered, see Section (M) Personal Possessions, as sports equipment is only covered to a maximum of €250.
