stopover allowances Stopover allowance, outside your main destination area: X

The aim is to allow those travelling to areas 2 and 3 a reasonable time to visit other countries whilst on their way to and from their main destination area without having to incur the cost of moving up an area to do so.

Those going to Australia and New Zealand are best off in this respect being given 3 days stop over for each month of their trip, ie. 36 days for 12 months, that can be taken on either the outward or homeward legs of the journey or split between both.

Those going to area 3 get given one day per month.

If the stopover(s) you have planned slightly exceed these allowances - please contact us.

winter sports Winter Sports for Long Stay Insurance X

Policy Section (P) Winter Sports is for conventional short-trip winter sports cover, and is not part of the cover for Long Stay Insurance.

BUT:
Skiing, Snowboarding and several other winter sports are classified in our High Risk activities category, which provides Medical Emergency and Repatriation cover - as per Schedule (A) of the Policy - for an accident or illness caused by participating in these activities whilst on a trip.

There is no extra charge for this, no time-limit on participation, and it is automatically included with the travel insurance. However, as for all High Risk activities the excess (which is the first part of any claim that you pay) is £500 rather than the normal £100 excess for Schedule (A).

See our Schedule of Activities for more details, via the sports & activities link on the menu.
