This page summarises aspects of the insurance that are probably of interest or concern to residents of the Channel Islands or Isle of Man.

Channel Islands or Isle of Man - What is covered:
  • Insurance is specifically as residents of Channel Islands or Isle of Man and not for them being in UK (although the policy covers UK residents as well).
  • Free of Tax insurance that does not include the addition of 17.5% UK Insurance Premium tax.
  • Medical and Repatriation costs: for residents of the Channel Islands or Isle of Man, the policy provides cover for Medical and Repatriation cost while outside the Channel Islands or Isle of Man, and this applies to residents of the Channel Islands or Isle of Man visiting the UK in the same way as for them visiting any other country abroad.
  • UK residents visiting Channel Islands or Isle of Man: cover for medical costs incurred in Channel Islands or Isle of Man and repatriation to UK would apply to visitors from UK.
  • Missed departure - Outward: Missed departure cover is for failure to catch the connection for the main leg of the outward or return journey. Therefore, residents of the Channel Islands or Isle of Man, travelling to mainland UK for ongoing international flights, are covered for missed departure for failure to board the ongoing flight in UK (for circumstances detailed in the policy).
Channel Islands or Isle of Man - What is not covered:
  • Missed departure - return flight to Channel Islands or Isle of Man: Missed departure cover is for failure to catch the connection for the main leg of the outward or return journey. Therefore, if departure on the main leg is not missed, then the cost of failure to catch any subsequent flight departure in not covered. Residents of the Channel Islands or Isle of Man should be aware of this, and allow plenty of time or ticket accordingly for the flight back to the Channel Islands or Isle of Man from mainland UK on the return journey, should the main leg flight be delayed on arrival.
 
 
Age Limits:
  • For Single Trip insurance up to 90 days the age limit is under 65.
  • For Annual Multi-trip insurance the age limit is under 71.
  • For families, up to 6 children aged under 17 can be included - (6 at the same cost as for 1).
  • Long Stay Backpacker insurance is only for adults aged under 40.
  • Age limits apply, for annual insurance at the start date of the annual period, otherwise for single and long stay trips they apply at the start date of the trip. Cover must be taken out prior to departure.

Adventure Sports Over 100 holiday activities, adventure sports and some extreme sportsare covered at no extra charge, with no time limit on 'safe and normal' participation. All the types of travel insurance include cover for such sports as: Bungee Jumping, Mountain Biking, White Water Rafting, High-Altitude Trekking, Snow Skiing, Snowboarding + many others; to amateur competition level. Sports, activities and work : are divided into categories in the Schedule of Activities: (1) Holiday, (2) Work, (3) Winter Sports, (4) Medium Risk and (5) High Risk. As there is no extra charge, for more dangerous activities in categories (4) and (5) higher medical excess amounts apply, and there are some restrictions on cover. Winter Sports Winter Sports activities are included at no extra charge within our High Risk category of activities. Although, conventional winter sports holiday cover is also optionally available for all short trip and 31 day annual insurance policies at additional cost, but is inclusive in the cost of the 90 day annual insurance policy.

Altitude Trekking : UK insurers cover altitude trekking to maximum altitude of 4000m. Cover for trekking at altitudes over 4000m may be given on application to us for referral to UK insurers.

Hazardous Adventure Sports
The Schedule of Activities is part of the policy, which is available via the Sports & Activities link, gives details of the cover provided for all Holiday and Hazardous Adventure sports and activities covered, and conditions that apply. In conjunction with this Schedule, Section (S) of the policy it sets out certain basic conditions for "safe and normal" participation, such as:

  • being reasonably fit to take part,
  • being properly organised,
  • being accompanied by experienced guides,
  • wearing suitable protective clothing,
  • having the right equipment,
  • observing the safety procedures recommended.
