This page summarises aspects of the insurance that are probably of interest or concern to residents of the Channel Islands.
Channel Islands - What is covered (significantly) :
- Insurance can be made to be for residents of Channel Islands specifically (although the policy covers UK residents as well). Before getting a quote, select Isle of Man from the residency dropdown.
- Free of Tax insurance that does not include the addition of 20% UK Insurance Premium Tax.
- Medical and Repatriation costs: for residents of the Channel Islands, the policy provides cover for Medical and Repatriation cost while outside the Channel Islands, and this applies to residents of the Channel Islands visiting the UK in the same way as for them visiting any other country abroad.
- UK residents visiting Channel Islands: cover for medical costs incurred in Channel Islands and repatriation to UK would apply to visitors from UK.
- Missed departure - Outward: Missed departure cover is for failure to catch the connection for the main leg of the outward or return journey. Therefore, residents of the Channel Islands, travelling to mainland UK for ongoing international flights, are covered for missed departure for failure to board the ongoing flight in UK (for circumstances detailed in the policy).
- Missed departure - return to Channel Islands: Missed departure cover is for failure to catch the connection for the main leg of the outward or return journey. Also, from 2011, if the international flight back to mainland UK or Ireland is cancelled or delayed, causing you to miss your connecting flight home to Channel Islands, missing that connecting flight is covered, under section (G) of the policy, as long as you allowed the time recommended by the airline for that transfer.
