Travel Insurance Policy keyfacts

Keyfacts UK Policy Summary 2012

This Policy Summary is to help you understand the insurance that your Insurance Policy provides. It details the key features, benefits, limitations, and exclusions, but you still need to read the Insurance Policy for a full description of the terms of the insurance, including the policy definitions, together with the Certificate of Insurance, and any endorsements, applying to your policy. The levels of cover and excesses which apply to your insurance are detailed in the Schedule of Cover. This Policy Summary does not form part of the Insurance Policy.

INSURER: This insurance is underwritten by Optimum Underwriting Limited, as Underwriting Agents for the insurers Groupama Insurance Company Limited.

PURPOSE OF THIS INSURANCE: this is a travel insurance policy that, subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions contained in the Policy Wording, will provide financial protection and emergency assistance for certain specific situations you may encounter whilst travelling.

SCHEDULES OF COVER: The policy is divided into sections for the various aspects of cover provided. Each section has a limit on the amount that we pay in the event of a claim. Some sections include other specific limits. Some sections also have an Excess as detailed below, which means that your will have to bear this amount of any claim. These are summarised in the two Schedules of Cover: (1) FOR LONG STAY INSURANCE, and (2) FOR ANNUAL MULTI-TRIP & SHORT SINGLE TRIP INSURANCES.

PRINCIPAL EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS:
Policy
References

  • Pre-existing Medical Conditions: Restrictions in cover apply if a claim is made relating to a medical condition, illness, or injury, of the Insured Person(s), or any person who your travel depends on, which you or they knew about before you bought this insurance, or which develops before the travel to which this insurance applies begins. It is very important that you read the Pre-existing Medical Conditions Policy Wording, as you may not be covered for such medical conditions. If you have any queries regarding cover, you should contact Etravelinsure Limited.
5.

  • Emergency Medical Treatment: Medical and repatriation cover is only for emergency medical treatment resulting from an injury sustained in an accident or an illness which first shows itself during a trip, which is confirmed by a Qualified Medical Practitioner as being medically necessary for the relief of pain and suffering, which cannot be reasonably postponed until your return home, and is authorised (when above the Unauthorised Cost limit) in advance by our Emergency Service.
14.
and
15.

  • Activities: You are only covered to participate in the activities described in the Activities section of the policy and included in the Schedule of Activities. General conditions apply for ‘safe and normal’ participation. Specific conditions and restrictions on cover apply in certain cases, and increases in the medical excess apply to activities in Medium and High Risk categories. Hazardous sports and activities that are not included in the Schedule of Activities are not covered, unless declared to and accepted by us. Parachuting, Skydiving, Paragliding and Hang-gliding are covered under Section (U), at additional premium, with no cover for participating whilst in USA.
33.
and
34.

  • Personal Possessions and Money & Travel Tickets: Cover is provided for loss, damage, or theft of your Personal Possessions, including Personal Money and Travel Tickets. We may, however, take off an amount for wear and tear when settling a claim, depending on the age and condition of the property. Cover is only provided up to maximum amounts for individual items, valuable items, and cash within the overall limits. Certain items such as spectacles and mobile phones are not covered.
27.
and
28.

  • Excesses: Certain sections of cover are subject to an excess applying to each claim. An excess means that you are responsible for the first sum of the excess amount when you claim. The standard excess is £100 per person, per incident. The standard excess can be varied when taking out insurance, within the range of nil to £500, at additional or reduced cost. Excesses that are not £100 in the Schedule of Cover are fixed, and are not subject to any variation. The amount of the excess that applies to each section is detailed in the Schedule of Cover on your Certificate of Insurance.
8.

  • Period of Insurance: All trips must start from and end in the United Kingdom, Isle of Man or Channel Isles. The policy must cover the whole duration of the trip. The duration of your trip, or for annual insurance the annual period, is stated on your Certificate of Insurance. For annual insurance any one trip must not exceed the maximum number of days allowed (31 or 90), and cover for cancellation under Section (0) is from the start date of the annual period or the time the first trip booked, whichever occurs later and ends on expiry of the policy.
10.

  • Material Facts disclosure: You must disclose all Material Facts that could influence us in accepting your insurance, and further inform us of any changes in circumstances that occur up to the time you depart.
4.

  • Curtailment: Cover includes additional expenses necessary to return home, but only when expenses are authorised in advance by our Emergency Service. There is no further cover for the resumption of the trip after returning home.

IF YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND: If, having examined your Policy Wording, you decide the insurance does not meet your needs, you can cancel the insurance within 14 days from the date you receive the Policy Wording booklet or before you travel (whichever is the earlier), and we will refund the premium and cancel the Certificate of Insurance as if it had never been issued. If you wish to cancel your insurance you should email or write to Etravelinsure Limited.
